ALL SHOOK UP

It's 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing roustabout who changes everything and everyone he meets in this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy that'll have you jumpin' out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Jailhouse Rock," and "Don't Be Cruel."

Somewhere in the midwest in the 1950's, Chad, a hip-swiveling, guitar-playing roustabout is being released from prison.

In a nearby dreary little town, Natalie, a young mechanic, is dreaming of love and adventure. Natalie's widowed father Jim enters and joins in, until the roar of a motorcycle interrupts them: it is Chad, riding into town. Chad is in need of a mechanic and he's introduced to Natalie, who is instantly smitten and promises to fix his bike.

Chad asks about any excitement in town, but he's told that excitement is outlawed under the Mayor's strict rules: no loud music, no indecent behavior. Chad, incensed, promises to breathe some life into this sad, little town.

Jacinta Bradley, towns people

lives in Cooma and works at Coles. Jacinta has never done anything like this before and is “loving every bit of it”.

Justin Downie as "Jim"

is a guitarist and plays banjo with The Rubberband. He has never tried acting before.

Livinia Evans, dance team

lives in Cooma and is in Year 12 at Monaro High School. She not only works at the Cooma Saleyards and Cooma Pet Shop but she dances with Monaro Dance Centre and plays guitar and piano. Her most recent performance was the lead role in MHS’s “Calamity Jane” (2016). Livinia is set to be the female Hugh Jackman.

Taffin Foxcroft, towns people

hails from Khancoban and now lives in Cooma. He works for Snowy Hydro. Taffin plays guitar, banjo and mandolin and most recently performed at a folk festival on New Year’s Eve. Taffin was most recently on stage at Corryong’s “Man From Snowy River” (2016). He’s bound to be the next star of indie folk rock.

Niam Foxcroft, towns people

hails from Khancoban and now lives in Cooma and is a trainee at Snowy Hydro. He has previously performed mostly in school musicals and also plays guitar. When Niam is a famous folk performer he will be the last person on earth…

Judy Gibson as "Sylvia"

lives in Cooma and works for Cooma Health. Judy performs with award-winning The Rubberband. Her most recent production at CLT was in “Return to the Forbidden Planet” (2016), and prior to that she directed “Hats! The Musical”. Jude is set to be the next Aretha Franklin.

Bronte Hely as "Lorraine"

is in Year 10 at Snowy Mountains Grammar School and also works at Birds Nest. She is a student of Monaro Dance Centre and is a seasoned busker (voice and guitar). Bronte has been in several school productions and when she becomes a famous actor she’s moving to New York.

Rachel Hopkin as "Sandra"

lived in Cooma but now lives in Canberra where she is studying Primary Education at UC and working for the YMCA. She performed at CLT a lot growing up, with dance schools, school productions and CLT Youth Theatre productions until 2009. This is her first time on stage in seven years. She’s going to be the next Anna Kendrick.

Georgia Knowles, dance team

our youngest cast member, lives near Berridale and is in Year 9 at St Patrick’s Parish School. She studies dance at the Rosie O’Sullivan School of Dance, plays guitar and has acted in school productions since she was five. This is Georgia’s first CLT show and she wants to do more. She’s going to be the next Juliet. (Georgia is also responsible for putting the cast through our pre-show warm-ups.)

Rebecca Matthes as "Natalie"

lives at Moonbah, south of Jindabyne. She is in Year 11 at Snowy Mountains Grammar School and she dances and has singing coaching at Jennifer Colin School of Dance. Rebecca plays piano and cello for the school band as well as individual performances. Her most recent acting gig was in the 2016 school production of “In Your Dreams”.

Heidi Pernitsch, dance team

is not only a member of the chorus but also the choreographer and costumer for this show. Heidi owns the business ‘Canberra Dancewear by Dee’. CLT helps her with her three favourite things: dancing, costuming and being a star working with incredible and talented people. [This show would not have happened without Heidi and her skill and dedication.]

Willow Smith, dance team

lives in Cooma and is in Year 11 at St Mary Mackillop College. She works at Moontree, she also sings and studies dance at Rosie O’Sullivan School of Dance.

Ioanna Yiomelakis, dance team

is in Year 11 at Monaro High School and also works at Hooks Pharmacy. She has been dancing since she was nine and is a student of Rosie O’Sullivan School of Dance. Ioanna was most recently on the CLT stage in the school production of “Calamity Jane” (2016).

Nat Walker as "Chad"

lives in Nimmitabel and runs a Kindergarten-to-Year-12 tuition business in the Cooma region. This is Nat’s first time on stage in over 12 years (that is, when he was 16). Prior to that he spent ten years with the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy and was involved in the Queanbeyan Players and Canberra Philharmonic. Nat loves “the writing side of things” and plans to be the next Joss Whedon.

David Learoyd as "Sheriff Earl"

has, since school, performed in the Operating Theatre more than in musical theatre. In 2012 he re-emerged for “Dancing with the Cooma Stars”, followed a week later by “A Celebration of Gilbert and Sullivan” and a week later by playing bass trombone in the Snowy Mountains Christian School Jazz Band at Merimbula Jazz Festival. David wants to be the next Dumble-Gandalf in “Lord of the Rings Meets Harry Potter”.

Sinj Muthsam as "Mayor Matilda"

lives in Cooma and works for The Disability Trust. Sinj has been in 25+ CLT productions since 2000, most recently in “Return to the Forbidden Planet” (2016). She’s going to be the next Patsy Cline. Or the next Debbie Harry… Or the next Amy Winehouse.

Bradley Pevere as "Dean"

is in Year 11 at Monaro High School and works at McDonald’s. He has performed in school productions since early primary school, and he also plays piano. Bradley is going to be the next Leonardo DiCaprio.

Amos Walker as "Dennis"

lives in Nimmitabel. He studies dance at Rosie O’Sullivan School of Dance and also travels to Canberra for singing tuition at ANU. He has been on stage in a number of productions in Canberra and Cooma and was most recently in “Sleeping Beauty” at CLT.

Hazel Wheatley, towns people

has returned to live Cooma after being away a couple of decades, and she works at Liv4 Home and Kitchen. The last time Hazel was on stage was in the CLT’s production of “Mikado” exactly 23 years ago this month.
